Girl Scout program and the benefits it provides the girls in your area. The
Girl Scout program is not possible without gifts of time, leadership and personal
donation. Each gift is important in fulfilling the hopes and dreams of every

Spotlight on Camilla Rose
Service Unit
Helping girls grow strong is a fulfilling
and inspiring challenge for Sherry Saunders, Camellia Rose Service Unit Director.
Volunteering means something different for everyone involved in Girl Scouting.
For Sherry, it means laying the foundation for increasing membership and donations
within her community.
“When I volunteered to lead
the service unit we had 40 girls on a waiting list and many obstacles to overcome
before we could provide the program. It became my mission to ensure these girls
had a memorable Girl Scout experience”.
Sherry’s dedication
has resulted in a significant increase in girl and adult membership and Annual
Fund campaign donations.
Much of Sherry’s success has
been in eliminating barriers for participation; spearheading a registration
by mail campaign to assist parents who are unable to attend parent meetings
due to work schedules. Sherry also makes the Annual Fund campaign a priority
for her service unit by meeting with new leaders to educate them on benefits
of the campaign and to coach them through the process. “I expect every
family to make a contribution most comfortable for their family and feel it’s
the responsibility of the service unit to educate our parents on the true cost
of the program throughout the year.”
Research shows that the influence
one caring adult has on a child will last a lifetime. Sherry is one example
of how the Girl Scout program is shaping the lives and future of girls living
in greater Atlanta.
To assist you with your troop campaign,
tools, training, resources, materials and a volunteer mentor are available from
your service unit director. For more information, contact our fund
