New print and posting date for Safety-Wise
is spring 2009
The publication process for the new
edition of Safety-Wise has been postponed and will be released in spring
2009. Girl Scouts of the USA regrets any inconvenience this delay may have on
the work of councils and their service to girls. View
the Safety-Wise updates that are effective Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Uniform
changes for Girl Scouts
Effective Oct. 1, 2008, each
age level of Girl Scouts will have one official uniform piece; for girls it
will be a vest or sash (vest or tunic for Girl Scout Daisies) and for adults
it will be the official scarf for women and the official tie for men. For Girl
Scout Daisies and Brownies, that one official item (tunic, vest or sash) is
required when girls participate in ceremonies or officially represent the Girl
Scout Movement. Daisies and Brownies will continue to have a full uniform ensemble
to choose from. For Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors, an
official sash or vest worn with a white shirt and khaki pants or skirt is required
when girls participate in ceremonies or officially represent the Girl Scout
Movement. Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors also have an official bandana (scarf)
that will unite them in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts
tradition. The official uniform for adults is navy blue business attire worn
with a Girl Scout scarf and membership pins for women and the Girl Scout tie
for men. Learn more about Girl Scout
adult uniforms.
Available elements:
Girl Scouts of the USA will continue to develop and offer a range
of appealing casual wear for girls and adults. This action is effective Oct.
1, 2008, and supersedes and rescinds all previous National Board action taken
on the Girl Scout uniforms.
