Adopt-a-Horse

Help support our horses by adopting your favorite horse!

You may not have room at home for your own horse, but you or your troop can support the council’s dynamic riding program by adopting one or more of our horses. When you Adopt-a-Horse, your generous donation will provide essential items and care for our horses. Each horse may be adopted by multiple individuals and/or troops.

Your adoption donation will help defray the many ongoing costs of caring for our horses including blankets, halters, tack, food and medicine. Below is an approximate sampling of the costs of basic care for each horse:

  • Farrier - $35-$75 every 6-8 weeks

  • Equine dentist  - $80-$120 a year

  • Grain and hay - $60 a month each

  • Annual vaccines - $100 a year

  • Wormer - $30 a year
  • Load of shavings - $125-$175 a month
  • PDZ stall fresher - $15 a month
  • Western saddle  - $300-$500
  • Western pad - $30-$50
  • English saddle - $350-$550
  • English pad - $25-$35
  • Bridle - $25-$35
  • Bit - $30
