Camp Timber Ridge – Troop/Group activities

What are Troop/Group Camping Activities and what types of activities are available?

Camp Timber Ridge offers instructor-led and non instructor-led activities to supplement your camping weekend. These activities are led by trained or certified instructors and all necessary equipment is provided. Browse instructor-led and non instructor-led activities for Sept. 2010 - May 2011 Activities | Download 2010-2011 Application.

How many activities can we request?

You may request one-three instructor-led activities. At the most, a troop will be placed in two of these activities. In addition, you may request activity kits for your troop/group to do on their own.

What dates are these activities available?
Activities are typically available on a first-come, first-serve basis from Sept.-May. Canoe, archery, and badge sessions are not available on the following dates: Sept. 19, 26, 2009; Oct. 24, 31, 2009; Nov. 7, 2010; Jan. 23, 2010 and Feb. 6, 2010. Challenge Course has limited availability on the following weekends: Sept. 19-20; Oct. 23-25, 31. These limitations are due to large events on camp. If you would like the self-led activities, these are always available.

How do we request activities?

Complete an application and fax or mail it to the camp office. Registration for activities begins Tuesday, July 15 for Sept. 2008-Feb. 2009 and on or after Thursday, Jan. 15 for March-May 2009 camping dates. Applications will be placed based on the postmark date. We are not able to place troops that register within a week of the session. We need at least 10 days notice to find appropriate staff for your activity request.

When do we pay?

After you are confirmed for Troop/Group Camping Activities, your payment is due no later than 15 days before your camping date. Failure to pay by the deadline will forfeit your activity. No refunds will be made for cancellations or changes in numbers less than 10 days prior to the camping date. Please check your camping confirmation for the due date of your site fee.

Will the camp store be open during the day?

The camp stores are no longer open. Site patches are available in the Girl Scout Badge & Sash Store in the Girl Scout Service Center in Atlanta.

May we perform a service project while at camp?

Troop/groups are welcome to perform a service project at Camp Timber Ridge. Please contact the Camp Timber Ridge Ranger at (770) 948-4884 to plan your service project.
